Description:This ensemble, known as a bunad represents the national dress of Norway. It is likely of the Rogaland variety, named for its district of origin. The form is based on traditions established in the 19th century. Bunads can be quite expensive due to the high quality of materials and craftsmanship in their construction. This example is evidence of this, especially in the handmade buttons and fine shirring of the skirt.
